Accelerating the field of Indigenous Peoples’ guardianship
Nia Tero partners with Indigenous organizations and the trusted allies of 300 distinct Indigenous Peoples worldwide.
Through our partnerships, we provide direct funding via grants and contracts to Indigenous Peoples' organizations and networks, while actively increasing the recognition of Indigenous Peoples' vital role in maintaining a healthy planet.
In 2025, we launched our 5-year strategy to directly support robust Indigenous Peoples’ guardianship of 500 million hectares of lands, waters, and oceans.
In the next five years, Nia Tero will:
- Continue to directly fund Indigenous Peoples
- Strengthen Indigenous and ally networks and hubs
- Lead and inspire new research
- Amplify stories and evidence from Indigenous Peoples
