For more than 40 years, the Achuar People have advocated to stop oil development in their territory, which has ravaged large areas of the Ecuadorian Amazon. But even as they fought against fossil fuels, they too were reliant on gasoline to light their homes and power boats critical to their livelihoods. […] Now, solar power is providing a sustainable solution while reshaping their daily lives. Nia Tero is proud to directly support the Achuar in their use of solar power.

Indigenous peoples are living the change that all recent scientific reports call for; this provides a baseline for policymakers and governments at COP28.
